Residential
1706 Rittenhouse
Located along Philadelphia's historic Rittenhouse Square, the residence at 1706 Rittenhouse is designed for an academic and creative empty-nest couple relocating to the city after many years spent in the suburbs.
The goal of the project is to incorporate this worldly couple's collection of antiques into a fresh, updated design. Inspired by the prosperous pre-World War I years in Paris, known as the Belle Époque, the design is eclectic and elegant. The use of curves throughout the residence, observed in both the physical construction and furniture selections, is a nod to Art Nouveau style, which became popular during the Belle Époque years. The drama of the curves is balanced by the use of contemporary furniture, which helps to modernize the space.
