Moving In Sound
In this repository for "dead media," visitors are encouraged to move through the space while listening to music from various boomboxes. The boom box and its companion, the cassette, are the foundation of this design concept, which helped to produce the finalized repeating hexagonal forms used to define the space.
Boomboxes are defined by their portability and their ability to change both indoor and outdoor environments through music and sound. The way sound bounces off the stacked and layered hexagonal forms will change as visitors travel from one end of the structure to the other – allowing for an experience similar to walking with a boombox, without physically carrying it.
